TOYOTA MR2 2.0 G-LIMITED (1999) - 1990
OVERVIEW
This is Toyota MR2 is in excellent/perfect working order –
with no advisories other than rear tires – and comments on its very good condition at my local garage (feel free to
call them to ask). If you are after a VGC perfectly running MR2 this could quite easily be it – and
this is the G-Limited model (with every MR2 extra possible - apart from leather). This is a high powered
MR2 with just basic tweaks with a muffler (not an over the top one and a 20bhp chip improvement – nothing too silly
(like many over done max power models) and is a great addition.
It is
fantastic to drive – a real blast – I have taken it around North Yorkshire roads twice now and it drives excellently
– and boy it is fun. In literally runs without faults, fires up instantly, sounds very rorty and
has no problems what-so-ever and is supported by an all clear HPI certificate that states the import was in 1999 – and
as it was 10 years ago all is very well.
The engine idles perfectly at
around 700RPM. The handbrake is strong and the brakes are like new and all other components also as
they should do. All of the essentials work perfectly, i.e., heaters, fluids are fine etc. The interior
is is in very good condition and is pretty much without fault. It is also very comfortable hugging
sports seats and it is very much a sports car. The interior is in very good condition all round.
The heating system runs perfectly and heat things up rapidly.
The exterior
is also in excellent condition and only has a couple of very small paint peeling spots and a few light hairline scratches
on the body (which are next to nothing) and the overall look is very good if not excellent – and the Brembo
brakes kit gives it a real edge. There is no rust at all. The alloys are in excellent
condition and the front tyres are in very good condition and the rear tyres are good and are about half to three quarters
through their lifespan – plenty left all round. The twin exhaust is in perfect running order –
as is everything else! Everything runs just as it should do.
If you
are after perfectly running MR2 – this could well be the one as it is bang on! It was imported at
the end of 1999 and so everything is up to spec and the mileage is in miles etc and all is well) In short this is a
perfectly working, mechanically maintained that looks set to have a long life ahead of it - and boy is it fun!
It is a brilliant drive for weekend blasts or even for everyday use. I love it!
EXTERIOR
This model is in excellent
condition and gleams when polished with the rare nautical blue metallic paint (MR2 paint code E8H). The
only marks are a few very tiny hair line scratches and a couple of tiny paint peeling spots – and the overall look in
the rare metallic colour really gleams when polished. The Brembo brake
kit gives it a real edge behind the perfectly conditioned alloys (that are literally like new). I have also just
bought new clear side lights. Overall the exterior is in excellent condition.

INTERIOR
This model is the G-limited
spec and is the one with all of the bells and whistles on (apart from leather). The interior is in very
good condition and it looks like it has been cared for very well. All of the electrics (mirrors, windows,
folding mirror system, electric windows etc) work perfectly. It is very easy to drive and very comfortable
and the driving position feels perfect – it is a real sports. The speedometer is in miles and the
mileage is also in miles. there are also two RCL units. There are four seats in total but it is really a 2 seater
car as the rear two seats would require the front two to be really pushed forwards - not good - but a 2 seater it is excellent! This is a real sports car to be as the power on offer
is immense and the overall driving position is perfect with the rear wheel drive and mid range engine – and it sounds
like one. The interior has all of the MR2 extras bar leather and it is all well set out and quite simple
like a sports car should be. Overall the interior is in very condition.

THE DRIVE
It runs 100% perfectly
without any faults what-so-ever! This slightly tweaked MR2 G-Limited is excellent to drive – and
it has been sensibly tweaked with only a 20BHP chip (now totalling 183bhp) and a sensible muffler – and it begs to be
driven like a sport car. The brakes, handbrake, coolant level (constantly half way when warmed up) are
all perfect and so is the oil mixture. It is a flier – I got up to very high speeds and I backed
off way before it got near the top notes esp on B roads - a real 'drivers' car.
There are no squeals on full lock or
any unwanted sounds – it drives perfectly well. The gear box is perfect. The revs
idle at around 700 and quiet – apart from the rumbling meaty sounding exhaust. There is a receipt
for the previous service and other maintenance dating nine months back. There are also no leaks nor unwanted residue.
Everything is as it should be. This model model can be driven with absolute confidence.
